Your benefits with RWE as your partner​

  • For you as the landowner, leasing parts of your land for a wind project is a lucrative business: With guaranteed annual rental income, a project of this nature on your property will earn income for you and your family for the long term.

  • A wind project involves no outlay for you: RWE assumes all responsibility for planning, financing and implementation, from design to the call for tenders or electricity sales, and the grid connection. We’ll keep you at all times up to date about the progress of the project– there’s nothing you have to deal with. And because we always finance our own construction work, we don’t depend on the banks, which means leasing your land to us is a very low-risk arrangement.

  • RWE is a model of durability and reliability: We have more than 125 years’ experience in electricity generation and have also become one of the global market leaders in the generation of renewables. The facilities we build are mainly for our own business activities, and when a wind project is finished, we prefer to operate it ourselves. For us, a partnership is for at least 20 years, since our model is based on long-term collaboration rather than turning a quick profit.

  • Because every project is different, we design our wind, solar or hybrid plants individually and consider the circumstances of each case in detail, and we therefore take care of the necessary acceptance in the local area. From the initial discussion through to completing the wind farm, we work with you as an equal, transparently and reliably. When we promise something, we keep our word. When we offer you something, it’s a serious undertaking.

  • In addition to economic diversification, a wind project provides overarching agricultural benefits, since we design and operate our systems sustainably and in tune with nature – for example, by increasing biodiversity in adjacent areas, helping to prevent erosion, building up humus, and protecting groundwater. Making use of your land for wind energy combines climate protection, agriculture and conservation.

What kinds of sites are we looking for, in specific terms? ​

Areas of more than 10 Hectares

Onshore wind​

  • Land with urban classification of common rustic, and without any special protection.

  • Strips of land 200 meters wide, preferably clear and easily accessible for vehicles through roads or highways.

  • Land not affected by environmental protections.

  • Land free of charges (Not subject to a right of a third party).

RWE will perform a preliminary examination and check whether the site is suitable for a wind project, based on various criteria (e.g., wind speed, subsidy eligibility, distance to residential housing.

If suitable, RWE will contact the property owner with a provisional offer of lease.
